Bearable I 100 x 150 I 2022
The butterfly is the visitor in this loneliness. She can come in the darkest hour of Paddington’s cage.

I painted him on a layer of newspapers, because he is topical. The inspiration for this portrait is sad but reality. Since we know, in 2019, more than 100 walruses fall from metered-high cliffs due global warming.
I thought it was heartbreaking to see dozens of walruses crashing down from high cliffs. They are forced to scramble further on land, now that they can barely find enough ice to rest.

I paint him on a layer of newspapers, because he is current.
The young dog. symbolizes the puppies we love so. much. Ones this wolf was a pup too.

This amazing docufilm inspired me to make a portrait of this beautiful creature.
Following the octopus farm that was to be opened last year, on the Caribbean Islands. A portrait of this intelligent animal, sitting on the shell of the nautilus, which was his support. To build a home

The morning dawn has gold in its mouth. The spontaneity of a rooster, the living alarm clock. Previously not a problem, now it is too much… for many. It’s a beautiful day! I made this portrait after meeting a cheeky rooster who ran after us in the garden of our babysitting house. My son was afraid of him, but by giving him a name: ‘Croky’, we were able to accept his character and see his task of protecting his hens from a positive perspective.

Satao was an African elephant
who lived in Tsavo National Park in kenya. He was thought to have been born during the late 60s.
He was estimated to be one of the most giant elephants in the world at the time of his
death and has been described as one of kenya’s most iconic and well-known tuskers.

Motherland is the earth, the mother is strong, pushing her calf forward towards the world. Teach him, keep him from fear. Love and let go teach him what she once learned from her mother; to discover the unknown for yourself. But in this uncertain future today, we have to file early before we can discover. This world has changed. Mother Earth will strike back, but now she is being put to the test. There is too much going on in this crazy world, and for what?

Two monarch butterflies play a game in the wind.
The attention of the toucan is drawn by these travelers.

You have to be on your guard or you will be imprisoned for what locals believe in.
That is why these oxpeckers travel on the back of the giraffes. They make an alarming noise when people are close by. The giraffes understand this warning and can therefore flee from the potential danger in time.

A colony of chickadees, sitting on the ‘branches’ of sheet music, keep the music ‘alive’

The world famous polar bear who lived in the Berlin zoo.
When he died, i painted him back home, the northpole. Lying on an ice floe with one leg in the water,
will tell that the ice is melting. The earth is warming at a rapid pace andthere will be no place left to run. Knut is in heaven and heaven is home.

Portrait of a Young sealion with his little friend; Balloon ranger!
The fregatbird that can blow up his chest as big as a balloon.

Gecko observes a grasshopper.
Looking at each other, thinking bout survive…

Tucan and caterpillar of the monarch butterfly are playing ‘hide and seek’

When everyone is going left, go right! When nothing goes right, go left! This explains something about this crazy time where living in. Dare to be different!

The Netherlands hopes for more with the arrival of two giant pandas to get visitors to the zoo. It inspired me to paint a portrait of a sitting panda on a piece of bamboo, which symbolically forms the bridge between China and the Netherlands. The Chinese butterfly comes to visit the panda on the way.

Environment of our wildlife, after the shortfilm of WWF “Morning has broken’
What if there’s no such thing as tomorrow shall be. Than we’ll eraise everything we thought we had.
But nothing was that special, as a morning that has broken.

Noah and the seaturtle who returned from his journey

A lonely lobster in an aquarium, But wait! There’s a shrimp. A new friend!

The hybride macaw is a mix between the yellow wing macaw and Blue macaw. Because this species does not officially recognize and get mixed by natural love of the secondary colors, they’re just like people corresponding similarities; The acceptance of existance!

The capeverdean women who live on the islands of Santiago, are very beautiful.
They carry baskets and trays full of fruit to the market. There are also birds who flew in from anther continent. Therefore nothing is impossible. We’d like to similarly live in freedom, so… spread your wings and fly!

In this strange time we only see the impossible things but there is so much more we can see and enjoy the little things in life. Sometimes I think people find recognition in an ostrich.
Once an ostrich portrait, the smile awakens
Hi There!

The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos is a 2008 British-American nature documentary that explores the great gathering of lesser flamingos which occurs every year at Lake Natron in Tanzania and along the salt lakes of the African Rift Valley

The elections in December 2007 were the lowest in Kenya’s election history. The poll took place very messy and after publication of the final result, violent ethnic conflicts broke out. The baboons were not allowed to vote, so they remained relaxed. The only had their own view of who became the boss of the family.

Sometimes you have to change the background. ‘What happens when the background disappears?’
In other words, if everything slowly disappear into the background….
‘Enter the dreamworld’. Painted on the music of Patrick Watson ‘Sky dancing’

A tiger in a zoo. How do we come up with it?
Our domestic cat akin to the felines sees us, man not as a god but as a staff.
They are intelligent and we humans only know half of what they are doing every day. As for the tiger,
The tiger does not think about humans at all.
Its image is powerful, the tiger is an animal in its own wilderness.
In captivity, sitting here like a house cat on the concrete floor, the tiger no longer knows who he is.

A story of an orphan. ‘On their way back, they found a small baby elephant walking alone along the road. It’s hard to know if the carcass was that of the mother, but it seems likely given the closeness of the two, despite the carcass looking a few weeks old. The calf was in an emaciated condition, indicating that she had been alone for a long time before being rescued, held and captured, then loaded into the Land Cruiser and taken to the Trust’s headquarters in Maluku next to the Triangle.” Rescued and brought to Sheldrick trust in Kenya.

Untill the morning comes, my paint has Dries.
When you’re down, hold on, I’m sure you’ll find youreself there…

Seahorses are increasingly washing up on Dutch beaches. This inspired me to paint a portrait of the short-beaked seahorse that lives in the North Sea. This is a married couple. The seahorse (right) is the male, unlike the female he leaves his colors free to be less noticeable. He has a big belly, he’s probably pregnant. Are you visiting the beach this summer? Then take a plastic

-dare you? Protect yourself! Portrait of a young swan. Self-defense is like in his DNA.

Portrait of a Zeeland seal. It used to be a party, normal. The whiting streamer! Far from the Whiting: overfishing ensures that ’they’ can no longer access it.

What is that was and what was that remains. Party, but turned around. Same place, different time. Queen’s Day, that was ’the day!’

‘Catch me if you can!’ The fish between sea and land.

Portrait of the world famous sheep ‘Dolly’ 25 years ago, the ‘special’ sheep Dolly was born. She wasn’t just any sheep, Dolly was the first cloned sheep and also the world’s first clone of an adult mammal. This was also the foundation of a huge issue. Is it ethical to clone? Dolly was a star!

I decided it was time to place her in the universe. Symbolizing for all the animals in the bio industry and especially for her family who are lived for the UGG shoes.
-She is not alone in the darkness. The universe surrounds her and a stray jackdaw lands on her shoulder.

This is a portrait of ‘Hermien’, The cow that escaped death together with her sister at the end of last year. ‘Death’ in the translation of ‘slaughter’. After weeks of fearfully wandering in the woods, she was finally reunited with her sister and lived the rest of her life in freedom. -No animal wants to die, because you don’t want to die either, do you?! We have no right to make a choice for someone else. Love your neighbor and especially when it comes to animals; they only give love and think of you in the ‘worst case’.
Viva la libertad para siempre, por todo lo que vive!
The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way it’s animals are treated -Mahatma Gandhi.

The lights are of. Everybody is gone! How alone can you be? Left behind, not trampled full of antibiotic filled world creature. What does human do to you and for that? Free range does not exist! It is only a French balcony.’ The white butterfly brings hope, a bright spot, something the rooster has never seen. You never see the roosters! They disappear when they are not yet an age. This happens behind the scenes. Because their existence is so short, it inspired me to symbolically paint a portrait with a small detail in the darkness. The rooster stands on an unhatched egg, which turns into a magic ball. And once you enchant something, you can be anywhere.

I saw a documentary about this beautiful creature and was so fascinated about the silence in his voice, I had to portray him. The sea is such a beautiful place, we don’t know enough about it.

‘Babywhale Colin’ (Colette), lost it’s mother and came in pittwater, Sydney Australia. After days of media exposure and no solutions on how to save baby Colin, the whale adopted a sailing boat as it’s mum. She was lost in one of Australia’s most beautiful bays ‘The Basin’ in pittwater, in the heart of ku-ring-gai National park. The authorities had no answers. They decided to put baby whale ‘Colette’ to sleep… *In this painting is Colin reunited with her mother. This story inspired me, so i wanted to make a portrait in wich Colin was reunited with his mother. Forever, immortalized in a frozen moment! (Later on close inspection they found out Colin was a female and that’s how her name changed in ‘Colette’.)
August, 22, 2008 -painted in juli 2009

One day, I had this beautiful rabbit at home. Edgar was always afraid. The fear was in him. As if he had been hunted. He came from a pet shop and luckily these days, rabbits are now sold in pairs. After all, they are group animals. One day, when Ola, my other rabbit, died, we released Edgar onto the heath.
